Karlovsky & Company Dance is thrilled to kick off our 10th season with a new show called STRUCTURES as part of the STL Fringe Festival on August 20 at 11:30AM (yes- AM) at the Marcelle Theatre!

Karlovsky & Company Dance presents new arrangements in contemporary dance-theatre using a blend of improvised and choreographed movement structures and spoken word influenced by the perception and experience of Time.

In Part I of this show, we present “Cycles”, a new improvised movement score created with the help of all the collaborators. This work explores the use of repetition and a building of layers through spontaneous choices and reactions among the performers.

In Part II, we present “STRUCTURES” - a rearrangement combining two separate improvised and choreographed structures into one new work. Using material from Dawn Karlovsky’s work, “All in a Day” (a 2013 premiere) and “Task Time” (an excerpt from SHIFTING TIME 2019), “STRUCTURES” involves choreography and interactive improvisation of movement and music, and playfully explores the formalized patterns, rituals, encounters, and adaptations that exist in daily life.

Live, original sound scores performed by local musicians Kalo Hoyle and Tory Starbuck. Running time: 50 mins.
