MO DANCE NEWS

Christine Knoblauch-O’Neal

In June Ms. Knoblauch-O'Neal became the President of the St. Louis Chapter of the National Society of Arts and Letters.  This wonderful organization was formed to address the need to support young artists in Literature, Arts, and the Performing Arts: Dance, Drama, Music, Musical Theater, and Voice through competitions and scholarships.  She is incredibly proud to have been chosen to guide this important work.  This year's National Piano Competition was in Chicago.  Our candidate, a young PhD student in music, Kyle Ledamo, was awarded fourth place, a cash award of $4,000.  Our National Competition for 2023 will be in Drama.

In addition, the Performing Arts at Washington University in St. Louis awarded Ms. Knoblauch-O'Neil for Service to the Department which will be awarded every year to faculty or staff members who have served the PAD in an outstanding fashion.  She was so honored to be recognized for my work of over 30 years in the department, and surprised and thanks Julia Walker, chair of the PAD, for organizing this recognition.

Ms. Knoblauch-O'Neil will begin the choreography for the Union Avenue Opera's production of A Little Night Music in August under the direction of colleague and collaborator, Anna Pileggi.  They have worked together for over 30 years in the PAD, and this will be their second production together at the Union Avenue Opera.
